ITINERARY
Our first stop will take us to the world-famous Fairy Pools. These crystal-clear rock pools are fed and connected by a series of waterfalls, originating from the nearby Black Cuillin Mountains. We will allow around 90 minutes to explore the fairy pools. The initial walk is up hill and of moderate intensity, so this part of the trip will not be suitable for those with mobility issues. It will take around 15-20 minutes to walk to the first of the fairy pools from the carpark. There are more pools to explore further up the path. If you don’t feel that the fairy pool walk is for you, then our driver will take you to an alternative location not far away!
At our next tour stop, you'll have the chance to dip your face into the legendary waters beneath the Sligachan Old Bridge, known for their mythic promise of eternal youth. As you immerse yourself in the crystal-clear river, you'll be joining countless others who have sought the revitalizing magic of this iconic spot. While you cool off, take a moment to soak in the breathtaking views of the Cuillin mountains and embrace the enchanting atmosphere of this historic location—truly a memorable experience on your journey through Skye
Our next stop will be the quaint village of Portree. Our guide will be happy to talk through several options where you can get a quick bite to eat at a reasonable price if you didn't go for our lunch option previously. We will aim to spend 35 minutes in Portree before moving on for more experiences and adventure. We will also point out where to get the best views of the colourful harbour and a short walk that will reward you with a stunning panoramic view of the village.
After lunch we will visit one of Skye’s most iconic landmarks- The Old Man of Storr. The “Old Man” is a large pinnacle of rock that can be seen from miles around. We will stop at a great viewpoint and learn about some of the folklore of this impressive rock formation.
As we head up the east coast of Skye, we will stop at the awe-inspiring Kilt Rock and Mealt falls. The magnificent 90 metre cliff resembles a traditional pleated kilt and is home to a spectacular waterfall fed by the nearby Mealt Loch. It really is a sight to behold!
At An Corran Beach, the striking black sands contrast beautifully with the turquoise waters, which recede to reveal fascinating dinosaur footprints embedded in the rock. As you explore this unique landscape, knowledgeable guides share captivating stories about the ancient giants that once roamed here
At the Quiraing, visitors are treated to breathtaking views of rugged cliffs and dramatic rock formations that seem to defy gravity. This geological marvel, shaped by ancient landslides, creates a stunning backdrop for hiking and photography. As you traverse the winding paths, guides share tales of local legends and the area’s rich history, bringing the landscape to life
At St. Columba's Isle, a short stroll through the ancient graveyard reveals the ornate graves of long-ago knights, and clan leaders. As you explore the remnants of St. Columba’s monastery, guides share captivating stories of the island's rich history and its significance in early Christianity

Welcome to our West Coast, Walking and Waterfalls tour, a captivating journey that seamlessly weaves together history, stunning scenery, and remarkable geological wonders! This unique Highland adventure promises to enchant you with Scotland's breathtaking landscapes and rich legends, ensuring an experience like no other. Get ready to explore the beauty and mystique of the Scottish Highlands as you embark on this unforgettable tour.
A short walk from the carpark will allow us to get up close to these impressive waterfalls on a new suspension bridge across the beautiful Black Water river. It's only a short walk from the car park and during August and September there's an excellent chance of seeing wild salmon leaping upstream.
Our second stop is the breathtaking Corrieshalloch Gorge. Corrieshalloch is one of the most spectacular gorges of its type in Britain and provides striking evidence of how glacial meltwater can create deep gorges. A short steep walk will bring us to a Victorian suspension bridge, where you can gaze down over a series of crashing waterfalls.
Next up is the picturesque fishing town of Ullapool, nestled on the shores of Lochbroom. Here you can wander through Ullapool's quaint streets, watch the boats, and enjoy a spot of lunch to refuel for the rest of the tour.
After lunch we will head north to the geological visitor site of Knockancrag. The low cliff of Knockan exposes rocks that set the scientific world ablaze in the 19th century. The Moine Thrust, as it is known, was created by the force of two continents crashing together many millions of years ago! We will spend time here exploring the geological history, wandering the trails and enjoying the spectacular scenery.
Our next stop is the ruin of Ardveck Castle. The ruin points skyward on a rocky promontory in Loch Assynt, Sutherland, Scotland, UK. The structure dates from about 1490 and is associated with the then landowners, the Macleods of Assynt. We will spend around 30 minutes exploring the small ruin and visiting nearby waterfalls.
Our final stop of the day will be the spectacular Wailing Widow Falls! Here you will enjoy a short but tricky walk to the base of the falls (or admire from afar) and learn about how the falls got their name!
